Trauma nurse writes newest album while looking for a different way to help people through their pain

Tad Worku is one of many musicians impacted by the pandemic, but not in the way you may think. The musician turned trauma nurse, turned musician again has toured and performed with Grammy award-winning musicians and producers who created hits for Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and more.

The musician was recently on an Instagram live with Doe Jones, a star artist and songwriter who was recently signed with RCA Inspiration, a premiere label in Gospel and inspirational music. Worku played “Won’t Give Up,” a song from his new album, Love Is All.

Jones, who is a gospel singer in Dallas, Texas, connected with Jones on her Instagram live, saying, “You’re not just a vibe, you’re a whole concert.”

Worku was poised for a successful career in the music industry, gaining fans who genuinely connected with his music and playing in celebrated venues throughout the world.

In 2012, he was offered a pop grant by a label, offering to fund his tour and propel him into the next step toward a career in the music industry, but the contract came with conditions: he could not write about politics or religion. Worku, a Christian whose faith is paramount to his story, had to decide between fame and faith.

He turned down the grant and returned the money, realizing the cost of the themes which were so central to his and others’ experience was too high.

Now, Worku spends his weekends in the frontlines of the hospital treating patients, and his weeks performing wherever he can. “I just want to bring a little joy wherever I can,” Worku says.

To hear “Won’t Give Up,” or to listen to his most recent album, Love Is All, visit tadworku.com or find him on Spotify, Apple Music, or wherever you download your music.
